DONALD Trump labelled Britain as “very special” and that he is looking forward to meeting Prime Minister Theresa May in his latest tweet.

The President-elect added he is excited to meet Theresa May in the spring.

The Republican tycoon tweeted: “I look very much forward to meeting Prime Minister Theresa May in Washington in the Spring. Britain, a longtime U.S. ally, is very special!”

A meeting between the Prime Minister and the President-elect was announced earlier this week. Downing Street officials told the Express.co.uk that the meeting could happen as early as February.

Mrs May’s joint chiefs of staff, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy, reportedly flew into Washington last month to organise the meeting.

Mr Trump’s tweet came just hours it was revealed .

The bust was removed by Obama in 2009 in favour of a statue of Martin Luther King.

When asked by the New York Times if he was going to bring back the bust of Britain’s esteemed Tory hero, Trump replied “I am, indeed, I am”.

Donald Trump took to Twitter to express his love for Britain

Mr Trump’s comments mark a distinct break with that of President Obama.

The incumbent President took to the stage with Remoaner David Cameron to warn that Britain would be at the “back of the queue” should Britons vote to leave the stranglehold of the EU.

Nigel Farage has insisted that Mr Trump would be a “Europhile President” and would put Britain at the “front of the queue” when he takes office on January 20.
